Scans are performed by fully qualified diagnostic radiographers with experience working in NHS, HSE and Private Clinics.
With every ultrasound scan in Mourne Scan Clinic, an instant verbal result will be given. Printed pictures of diagnostic scans can be given if requested.
A full written report will be posted or emailed.

Meet Our Team
Lisa - Director & Lead Sonographer
Lisa graduated from University of Ulster with BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and completed a PgD in Medical Science also in the University of Ulster. Lisa continued her professional development and she graduated from Anglia University, Cambridge with a PgC in Medical Ultrasound. Since then she worked as a radiographer and sonographer for 16 years in Daisy Hill Hospital.
In 2016, Lisa founded Mourne Scan Clinic in order to provide a private ultrasound service to the local community and beyond. She completed her musculo-skeletal training with Sport Medicine Ultrasound Group in 2017
.
Our Director, Radiographer and Sonographer Lisa Hughes has over 25 years’ experience. Her calm manner, skill and experience is welcomed by our ultrasound patients and Lisa manages the clinic’s screening services including genetic testing and Cancer Gene Screening as well as DEXA and X-Ray services.
Deirdre – Sonographer & Midwife
Deirdre trained as a general nurse in Craigavon Area Hospital and then midwifery in the Ulster Hospital. She continued her career in Daisy Hill on the paediatric ward and in midwifery for 6 years. Deirdre married and moved to HSE, where she has remained, 21 years as a midwife and 14 years as a sonographer.
Deirdre continued her professional development by completing her ultrasound course in Queen’s University Belfast and her masters in University College Dublin. She joined Mourne Scan Clinic in December 2019. Deirdre provides a wealth of knowledge and a vital service to our maternity patients offering a friendly face and answering any questions that they may have.
Louise – Clinic Manager
Louise graduated from Queens University Belfast with BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Sociology. She has experience working within Speech and Language Therapy within the Southern Trust and more recently worked in the Radiology department in Daisy Hill Hospital for 10 years before deciding to join Mourne Scan Clinic in 2019.
Louise oversees all clinical services delivered through Mourne Private Clinic and is happy to answer any queries patients may have.
Allene - Sonographer
Allene first qualified in 2011 as a diagnostic radiographer, completing a PgC in Ulster University and then followed another year of specialist study completing a US PgC in Glasgow which she achieved with distinction.

Allene has worked in both the Mater Hospital as a practice educator before moving to the Royal Victoria Hospital in 2016 working as a CT Radiographer and more recently a full time Sonographer for RVH Maternity. .

We are very lucky to have Allene as a sonographer on our team and value her expertise.
Shenna - Radiographer
Shenna is graduate of the University of Ulster with a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography, She worked with the Radiography team at the Royal Victoria Hospital for several years, before moving closer to home to serve her local community and her young family, as part of the Radiography team at Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry.
Shenna further added to her skillset, completing a PGCE in Education for Healthcare Professionals in 2020 which resulted in a role as Practice Educator in the Southern Trust.
She brings over 20 years’ experience to our very fortunate patients with expertise in acute centres, covering a wide range of general radiography including trauma and orthopaedics.
Alison - Sonographer
Alison holds a Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography from Oxford Regional School of Radiography, and while working with the Royal Victoria Hospital, she completed a further Diploma in Medical Ultrasound.
She has worked with the Belfast Trust and latterly South Eastern Trust for 35 years delivering medical ultra sound services and she brings with her vast experience in many areas including Obstetric , Abdominal, Pelvic, Vascular and small part Ultrasound.
Alison has over 40 years’ experience working in the Health Service and we are very fortunate to have her at the clinic.
Pauline - Medical Receptionist
Pauline qualified as a nurse in 1985 and trained in Belfast City Hospital. After registration, she worked in Belfast City Hospital for 12 years in surgical wards, mainly breast care and particularly vascular surgery.
Pauline continued her professional development and graduated from University of Ulster BSc (hons) Professional Development in Nursing. In 2000, she began working in G.P. treatment room and moved in to Practice Nursing. She completed diplomas in, Respiratory
Care & Asthma, Cervical Screening & Diabetes.
Pauline retired from nursing in 2020 and we are extremely lucky to have her working as a medical receptionist in Mourne Scan Clinic.
Patricia - Medical Receptionist
Patricia has only recently started her working career. Up until then, she was raising her family and dedicating her life to them.
She made the decision to join Mourne Scan Clinic in 2021 and we are very happy that she did! Patricia offers a welcoming smile and understanding approach to all our patients.
Grace - Medical Receptionist
Grace has recently graduated from Ulster University with a BSc in Communication and Counselling. Alongside her work at the clinic, she supports children with additional needs, a role that has strengthened her patience, empathy and love of helping others.
She is passionate about continuing professional development and hopes to return to university in the future to complete a teaching degree.
Having joined Mourne Scan Clinic in 2020, she enjoys meeting new people and strives to create a welcoming and positive experience for everyone who visits the clinic. We are very lucky to have her as part our team.
Mia - Medical Receptionist
Mia is in her second year at Ulster University studying Graphic Design, having previously completed an Art and Design Foundation course. She is keen to pursue a career within the creative industry, particularly creative direction and in her free time enjoys drawing and film photography.
She joined the team over two years ago and have really enjoys being part of such a friendly and supportive team. We are very fortunate to have Mia as part of our reception staff.
Olivia - Medical Receptionist
Olivia currently studying A Levels which include chemistry, biology, geography and maths and hopes to go on to study medicine in university afterwards.
Olivia joined Mourne Scan Clinic in 2024 and really enjoys the patient interaction and welcoming environment of the clinic. We are very lucy to have Olivia as part our team.
Brid - Medical Receptionist
Bríd is currently studying Psychology BSc at Queen’s University Belfast. She hopes to continue her studies postgraduate and eventually specialize as a clinical psychologist.
Bríd began working in Mourne Private Clinic in Summer 2025 and enjoys greeting new people and welcoming them into our clinic. We are very fortunate to have Brid as part of the team.
