General Scans
Ultrasound imaging is a method of acquiring information about the inside of the body using high-frequency sound waves.
At Mourne Scan Clinic, we accept ultrasound referrals from G.P’s and all other relevant medical practitioners. We also accept self-referrals, however if you are unsure of what sort of ultrasound you need please speak to your G.P.
We recommend that you present your results to your healthcare professional whose contact details we take when you attend for your appointment.
All scans are performed by qualified sonographers with diagnostic scanning experience.
£30 deposit will be taken as consultation fee if scan not applicable.

Upper Abdomen Scan
This is a detailed scan of the size, shape and appearance of the upper abdominal area. This includes:
- Liver
- Spleen
- Pancreas
- Gallbladder and biliary system
- Central blood vessels.
- Kidneys
Cost: £140
A 6 hour fast is required, patients may take sips of water if necessary.
Pelvis Scan
This is a detailed scan of the size, shape and appearance of the pelvic area to include:
FEMALE
- Bladder
- Uterus
- Lining of womb
- Ovaries
MALE
- Bladder
- Prostate
Cost: £140
A full bladder is required for this scan.
Renal Scan
This is a detailed scan of the size, shape and appearance of:
- Both Kidneys
- Bladder

A full bladder is required for this scan.
Abdomen & Pelvis Scan
This is a detailed scan of the size, shape and appearance of the abdominal and pelvic area. This includes:
- Liver
- Gall bladder and bilary system
- Spleen
- Pancreas
- Cental blood vessels
- Kidneys
- Bladder
- Uterus (female)
- Ovaries (female)
- Prostate (male)

Abdominal Aorta Scan
This is a detailed scan to assess the size and condition of:
- Aorta
- Kidneys
Cost: £90
Abdominal Wall Scan
This is a scan of the abdomen to specifically scan the
abdominal wall.
This scan can help to rule out any hernias or defects in this area.
Cost: £140
Carotids Scan
This 30 minute scan detailed scan of size, condition and blood flow using doppler of the carotid arteries in the neck.
Measurements of the blood flow are taken to indicate if there is a blockage in the vessels.
The patient is required to lie on their back and stay very still for an accurate reading.

Venoscan
This is a detailed scan of the deep veins in the leg from the groin to the calf.
We also assess for baker cysts at the back of the knee.

Testes Scan
This is a detailed scan to check for any abnormalities within the testes and surrounding tissue.
We also assess the kidneys at this scan.

Thyroid Scan
This is a detailed scan of the thyroid gland to assess for nodules or any other abnormality.
We also check for lymph glands at the front of the neck.

Groin Scan
This is a detailed scan of the muscles and soft tissues in this region.
Cost: £140
Fertility Scan
This is a detailed scan of the pelvic area. We perform a trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal scan to assess
- Endometrial thickness of the uterus
- Size and condition of the ovaries
- Follicle numbers and size
This scan is specifically for patients starting or undertaking fertility treatment.

We email the report along with images to you the patient and also the relevant fertility clinic if required.
Soft Tissue Assessment
This is a detailed assessment of lumps and bumps EXCLUDING breast tissue.
Cost: £140

ONE COMPLEMENTARY RESCAN appointment.
